Nutritional gardens were developed by KVK Mahasamund in Radha Bai’s backyard in 200 sq. Meter area to ensure the availability of fruits like guava, papaya, lemon and vegetables like Onion, cauliflower, cabbage, Brinjal, tomato, bittergourd, chilli, bottlegourd etc.round the year for the family members. Training on scientific nursery raising techniques for healthy & disease free seedlings were also given . According to season fruits and vegetable seeds and seedlings were provided by KVK and Scientist motivated the family to use organic manure/fertilizer like NADEP & Vermicompost in their Nutrition Garden.
Nutritional garden fulfils nutritional requirement of Radha Bai;s family. She makes full use of organic fertilizer through NADEP and Vermicompost tank developed within the badi. As a result vegetable production has increased. surplus vegetables are sold in the weekly market of the village. Radha bai is now earning approx.Rs.1200 - 1300/- per month as an additional income from her Nutritional garden. Her living standard is improving, now she is using Gobargas plant.she has also purchased ½ acre of land.
